Game 1: Braves 6 Marlins 0
Game 2: Braves 14 Marlins 6
Game 3: Braves 6 Marlins 3
Summary:
The Braves didn’t have to worry about weather as they headed down to Miami to have some fun in the sun. In game 1, Bryce Elder pitched another gem and held the Marlins scoreless through 7 innings. Ozzie started the scoring with a home run off of Sandy Alcantara (reigning NL CY Young). He was in and out of trouble in five innings of work but only gave up 3 earned runs. The Braves added three more runs in the top of the 8th on a Acuna sac fly and two bases loaded walks. Kirby Yates and Joe Jiménez finished off the game allowing zero runs.
In game 2, the Braves got out to a big lead as they scored 7 runs in the second inning thanks a grand slam by Marcell Ozuna, who had a hell of a series. Michael Harris, Acuna, Riley, and Albies added home runs in the game as the Braves bashed the Marlins 14 to 6. The Braves lost Kyle Wright early to an apparent injury and was put on the 15 day IL. Harris came out the game with a hurt knee but was not put on the IL and is day to day.
Game 3 was much like the others as the Braves won 6 to 3. Dylan Dodd pitched 6 innings allowing only 3 earned runs. The offense was powered by home runs by Ozuna and Olson and some timely hits by Acuna and Murphy. The bullpen pitched a scoreless three innings as they continued their success against the Marlins.
Key Performers:
Luis Arraez (3 for 10, 1 2B, 1 RBI), Arraez continued is quest to hit .400 this year as he had 3 hits in this series. Arraez is hitting .414 on the year.
Jon Berti (4 for 10, 1 R, 2 BB), I had to reach to find two key performers for the Marlins offensively so here’s Berti who had 4 hits none of them for extra bases but had a good series.
Jesus Luzardo (5.2 IP, 3 ER, 5 K’s 3 BB), Luzardo was the best pitcher of the series for the Marlins which isn’t saying much, but he pitched 5.2 innings against a strong Atlanta lineup..
Marcell Ozuna. (6 for 13, 3 HR, 6 RBI, 2 BB). Ozuna had his best series of the year with 3 home runs, one of them being a grand slam. Maybe the Braves should just leave him in Miami?
Sean Murphy (3 for 9, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 4 BB, 2 HBP). Murphy continues his torrid hitting with 3 hits one for a double but got on base 9 times out of 15 plate apperances.
Bryce Elder (7 IP, 0 ER, 6 K’s, 0 BB). Elder continues to impress as he out dueled former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara in Game 1.
